About the Winery Le Cadeau
Le Cadeau winery was founded in 1999 when 6 acres of Pinot noir vines were planted on the south slope of Parrett Mountain. The founders had cleared rock and wood to prepare the land for the grapes, burning slash piles that were the size of small houses. The vineyard grew quickly with the founders meticulously searching and experimenting with different strands and clones of Pinot Noir in the search of the perfect final product.
At the start, there were no other nearby Oregon vineyards for Le Cadeau to use as reference points. Instead, the owners used research and expertise from around the world in selecting the area and elevation to plant the grapes. However, their experiment was proven to be successful after having the first sips of Le Cadeau wine. The wine is described as possessing fresh and intense aromatics with deep and pure fruit flavors and hints of Asian spices and earthiness. These core characteristics are present in all Le Cadeau wines, regardless of vintage or winemaking.
Le Cadeau has worked with winemakers from Oregon and around the world, and all have made excellent wines from their grapes, but they remain committed to the adage that “Great Pinot noir is made in the vineyard.” Now two decades deep into producing premium quality Pinot noir, Le Cadeau is still committed to progressing its farming strategies and quality standards to new levels. Le Cadeau translates to “the gift” from French, but the winery insists that the wine is not the gift, but only the excuse.
