Maryland, My Maryland: September Specials at Madrones

Maryland Sept Specials

This month is all about our good ole home state. Little America has everything from mountains to shining seas, and we couldn’t be prouder to call this land our land.

We have two football and baseball teams and the prettiest state flower (Hello, Black-Eyed Susan). Who else’s state sport is medieval jousting? Not to mention the influx of champion lacrosse players, summer feasts of blue crabs and Old Bay, and our absolutely superior flag. To celebrate all things Maryland, Madrones is giving you a seafood entrée, two wines, and a couple cocktails that’ll make you shout, “Maryland, my Maryland.”

Entrée Specials:

Pan Seared Black Grouper:

You don’t always have to drive over the Bay Bridge to find great Atlantic seafood. Try our pan seared black grouper with wild mushroom risotto and a sauce made of screaming hot rock shrimp, tomatoes, garlic, and white wine for 25.9

Featured Wines:

Boulder Bank, Sauvignon Blanc: Marlborough, New Zealand –

Maryland has some majestic mountains, but Boulder Bank may rival our piece of the Appalachian Trail with this fruit-driven wine from New Zealand’s rocky region. The white wine has a medium weight with hints of citrus, peach, tropical fruits, mandarin, and nectarine that will tantalize the taste buds. Try a glass for 11 or a bottle for 38

Paringa Wines, Paringa Shiraz: South Australia –

This crimson wine with black hues is a worthy contender to the darkness of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven. With aromas of blackberry, dried fruit, and black currants, the strong flavors contrast with dusty, chocolate-covered espresso beans and subtle spicy nuances of black pepper and cloves. Try a glass of this well-structured wine for 9 or a bottle for 31

Trade your Natty Boh for a half-off bottle of any wine on Wednesdays.

Featured Cocktails:

September is a month when we’re clinking our glasses full of Maryland’s staple cocktails. While traveling between the Eastern Shore’s hustle and beach bustle to Frederick’s hometown vibes, maybe you’ve heard of Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey, a Baltimore-distilled whiskey that captivates the hearts of Marylanders with its caramel, cinnamon, honey, molasses, nutmeg, and vanilla bean flavors and aromas. Try it on its own or in this dynamic duo.

The “Retro Classic”: Maryland Mule –

This cocktail is 100 percent Maryland. Zesty and cold, Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey, ginger beer, and fresh-squeezed lime juice make this drink a Chesapeake winner. Try it for 8

The “Hipster”: Whiskey Crush –

This Baltimore classic has local Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Try the timeless drink of revolutionary American risk-takers and history makers for 8.5

Here at Madrones, we’re all about hometown pride. Though Frederick holds a special place in our hearts, we’ll gladly sport the Maryland flag anywhere we go. We’ll always boast that the National Anthem was written at Fort McHenry, and baseball icon Cal Ripken Jr. and the winningest Olympian of all-time Michael Phelps are Marylanders, but for this month, we’ll just keep whipping up our fall specials.

From all of us at Madrones, we can’t wait to see you.
