Madrones Wine of the Month: Beaulieu Vinyard

BV-Slider

Madrones is proud to again partner with Beaulieu Vinyard for our Wine of the Month promotion. Beaulieu is helping us again to make this month extra special by contributing to a very worthy cause: The Chesapeake Bay Trust.

Beaulieu Vinyard is graciously donating a portion of proceeds from every bottle of wine sold at Madrones this month to the Chesapeake Bay Trust to put towards bay restoration. The Chesapeake Bay Trust is a nonprofit grant-making organization dedicated to improving the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers through environmental education, community outreach, and local watershed restoration. Since its inception in 1985, the Trust has awarded $55 million in grants and engaged hundreds of thousands of citizen stewards in projects that have a measurable impact on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

Madrones will be featuring four Beaulieu Vinyard wines this month from their Coastal line: a Chardonnay, Pinot Griggio, Pinot Noir, and a Merlot.

  • Flaunting California style, Beaulieu Vinyard’s Chardonnay opens with juicy tropical fruit and bright green pears. On the palate, the flavors pick up distinctive elements of pineapple and red apple, complemented by toasty oak and vanilla. Extended lees aging and partial malolactic fermentation add weight and depth to the palate, balancing the crisp bite of fruit with a round, creaminess that spans into the finish. With simple elegance, this Chardonnay charms every occasion, adding the perfect touch to weeknight dinners and special events alike.
  • A Pinot Grigio with personality, this wine combines the varietal’s fresh, radiant fruit with some substance and weight. Aromas of pear, melon and pineapple open up the nose, followed by subtle notes of stone fruit and spice. The palate is bright and juicy, offering a lively mouthful of pear, honeydew and spices. Long in the finish, the wine holds it’s crisp acidity, making it extremely versatile and food friendly. Pair it with a dinner of poached halibut or fresh seafood salad for an excellent experience.
  • Classic in style, BV’s 2012 Pinot Noir is elegant and graceful, showing intense varietal character over a soft, supple profile. Fresh cherries and summer plums open the aromas. On the palate, the fruit gains complexity and depth, adding subtle layers of leather and forest floor. French oak stitches the bright fruit together, leaving just a hint vanilla. “This wine is meant to over-deliver,” says Winemaker Jason Dodge. “A delicious, approachable Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed for any occasion, accompanying every night dinner or featured alongside canapés and cheese platters at your next party.”
  • A great go-to wine, The Beaulieu Vinyard 2012 Merlot offers an accessible combination of fruit and spices perfect for everyday enjoyment. Lovely red fruit aromas, complemented by peppery oak notes, greet the nose. The palate is lively and bright, brimming with ripe plum and juicy black cherry flavors. Hints of coffee and toasty oak spices join chewy tannins through the long, satisfying finish. With perfect weight and style for food, this Merlot can be paired with a variety of dishes, including roasted chicken, pork or pasta.

Our wine of the month is a limited time offer, and is priced at $8 per glass, $28 per bottle, and with half priced bottles on Wednesdays. Please be sure to stop by and sample these awesome wines and support a great cause!
